The Area

Surrounded by hilltop villages each with its own character and speciality. Bassiano - for 'Santuario del Crocifisso' establised by breakaway Franciscan brothers and Knights Templars in the 1300's. Also famous for its 'Prosciutto' (dried ham).

Sermoneta - with its castle and churches, art galleries and concerts. The atmospheric Ninfa Gardens built on the ancient ruins of the town of Ninfa and run jointly by WWF and the foundation set up for its preservation.

The cloisters of Fossanova (featured in the film with Sean Connery 'The Name of the Rose' from the book by Umberto Eco) and the monastary of Valvisciolo. In both, the monks still live and work today. You can buy their wine, olive oil, honey etc.

Apartments available all year round. In cooler seasons for sight seeing trips to local villages and towns or trips to the city (Rome/Naples) or maybe designer outlet shopping! In summer for the nearby 15 km sandy beaches of Sabaudia set in Circeo national park or Terracina, San Felice and Sperlonga called the 'Riviera di Ulisse' the area where Italians take their holiday. Here a world of outdoor activities are all within easy reach by car across the reclaimed marshlands and the lakes formed from the remains of silent volcanoes.

Boat trips available from Terracina to Ponza and Ventotene which are said to outstrip Capri for beauty without the tourist madness.

Pompei and Herculaneum are also an easy train trip/car drive away.
